
The Finnish Society for the History of Technology was founded in 1926. The aim of the Society is to increase conspicuousness of the history of technology, engineering and industry, and to promote research and museum activity of the domain.
The Society publishes Tekniikan Waiheita, the Finnish quarterly for the history of technology. In addition to referenced articles the publication covers news as well as book, conference and museum reviews. The articles are mainly in Finnish, but articles in English and in Swedish are also published. Every issue contain Abstracts in English.
In 1999 the Society established a publications series together with FACTE (The Finnish Academies of Technology). By 2007, eleven monographies have been published under Suomen Tekniikan Historia – Finlands Teknikhistoria – History of Technology in Finland.
The FSHT is a member of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies.
